Is it okay to fire overnight?

"Firing overnight" is one of the greatest misconceptions about using a wood burning stove. Loading large amounts of wood or briquettes late at night while also turning down the air supply results in incorrect and incomplete burning. The flue gasses will not be burned off correctly (=smoke odors), as the gasses will not be directed through the chimney correctly, since the combustion temperature is too low. The gasses will condense in the chimney and accumulate as soot/tarry soot which, over time, can cause chimney fires.
