Find your dream stove

Should you choose a wood burning stove, pellet stove, hybrid stove, or bio stove? Here are some considerations you should take into account before choosing your stove:

Do you wish to use firewood, wood pellets, or both?

  • Firewood: If you want to use only firewood, you should choose a wood burning stove. It provides high heat output, a cosy atmosphere with visible flames, and can be used during a power outage.
  • Wood pellets: If you prefer using wood pellets, you should choose a pellet stove. It is very efficient, requires less cleaning, and can be automated for easier operation.
  • Both: If you want the best of both worlds with easy and efficient heating from wood pellets and the cosy ambiance of firewood, a hybrid stove is the right choice. You can easily operate the stove with your mobile phone.

How do you choose the right stove size?

In most cases, all stoves from Aduro suit your heating demand, because the heat output typically can be regulated from 3-4 to 8-9 kW. As a rule of thumb, 1 kW can warm up 10 square meters if the house is poorly insulated. If the house has good insulation, 1 kW can warm up 20 square meters.

Only in the following two cases should you pay attention to the size of the stove:

  • If your heating demand is less than 3 kW, you should choose a stove with a nominal output of maximum 5 kW.
  • If your heating demand is more than 7 kW, you should choose a stove with a nominal output of at least 6 kW.

You should also consider not buying a stove that is too large. Often, people tend to fire with too little wood or pellets and therefore too low a temperature, which can result in insufficient heat output and poor combustion.

Your choice of stove should also depend on:

  • How easy and cost-effective it is for you to obtain firewood or pellets.
  • Your willingness to maintain the stove: How much time and effort you are willing to invest in its maintenance.

If you are in doubt about the size of the stove, we recommend contacting your local chimney sweep or Aduro dealer.

Where should the stove be placed?

Whether you choose a wood burning stove, hybrid stove, pellet stove, or a bio stove, it’s important to consider where your stove will be placed. The location of your stove must adhere to the relevant installation regulations and standards. Find out more here.

Is your primary goal regular heating or creating a cosy atmosphere?

When choosing between a wood burning stove, hybrid stove, pellet stove, or bio stove, your decision primarily depends on whether your goal is effective heating or creating a cosy atmosphere.

  • Wood burning stove: Creates an authentic and inviting atmosphere with the warm glow of flames. Ideal for heating large spaces, and can be used without a power source, but requires a regular supply of firewood and ongoing maintenance.
  • Hybrid stove: Combines firewood and pellets for flexibility and effectiveness. Ideal for those who want a reliable heat source while enjoying a warm and cosy atmosphere.
  • Pellet stove: Known for its high efficiency and user-friendly operation, a pellet stove offers programmability, making it ideal for those who want consistent and reliable heating.
  • Bio stove: Uses bioethanol and does not require a chimney or electricity. Ideal for those who prioritise a modern, decorative option with a cosy ambience, but have minimal heating needs.

Side glass or no side glass?

A stove with side glass gives a greater view of the flames, as they can be enjoyed from several sides and not just from the front. However, it is important to keep the location of the stove as well as distance to combustible material in mind when buying a new stove, as this has an impact on whether you should choose a stove with or without side glass. A stove with side glass must be placed further from combustible material than a stove without side glass. Therefore, a stove without side glass is ideal for placing in a corner.

Do you live in a modern house with good insulation?

If you live in a newly built or energy-efficient house, you may need an external air supply to ensure proper draft in the stove. Several Aduro stoves offer the option for external air supply, where combustion air is provided from the outside. Look for stoves marked with an ‘Air’ icon. Would you like the option to start and program your stove remotely?

In that case, you should consider choosing a hybrid stove or a pellet stove that can be controlled via an app.

What requirements must your stove meet?

All Aduro wood burning stoves, pellet stoves, and hybrid stoves comply with the Ecodesign requirements which sets out requirements for the energy efficiency and particle emission of products.
