When you have purchased a bio fireplace, it does not need to be certified before use. You just need to ensure that you comply with the applicable distance requirements, which you can find in the user manual.
However, when you purchase a wood, hybrid, or pellet stove, there are several regulations and laws regarding installation, safety, and emissions that your stove must comply with to be legally used. Please check the regulations and laws in your country. If you're unsure about the requirements, consult your local dealer, local authorities, or a certified chimney sweep for advice.
Distance requirements
You must ensure that the stove is placed with the correct distance to combustible material. Find the user manual for your Aduro stove here to see the distance requirements for your stove.
Approval of the stove
You may not use the stove until it has been inspected and approved by your local chimney sweeper.
Have you purchased a property with an old wood burning stove or fireplace made before 1 January 2003? If so, please be aware that new homeowners are required to scrap or replace the wood burning stove within a year of taking ownership. Read more about the legal requirement here.
On 1 July 2023, the Danish Parliament passed a new law allowing municipalities to ban wood burning stoves and fireplace inserts installed before 1 June 2008 in areas with collective heat supply. It is up to each municipality to decide whether to introduce these new regulations. For now, you should pay special attention if you live in one of the following municipalities:
Many other municipalities are still deciding how to implement the law and considering whether to offer financial support for replacing older wood burning stoves. We recommend keeping up with local news and checking your municipality's website for updates. If you are unsure whether the regulations apply to your area, contact your municipality directly for the latest information.
All Aduro stoves comply with the current regulations, even if produced before 2008. However, in some cases, you may still be required to replace your stove, so please check with your local council for specific advice.

From 2025, the craftsman deduction is reinstated, providing a good opportunity for financial support for both the dismantling of wood burning stoves as well as the repair, renovation, and improvement of chimneys.
The craftsman deduction in 2025 allows for a deduction of up to 8,600 DKK per person. It is important to note that the deduction only applies to labour costs and not to materials. You can receive a deduction for work both in your home and in your holiday home.

Chimney
- Insertion of insulating lining
- Insertion of filter
- Installation of smoke exhauster
- Changing the chimney height in cases where the associated wood burning stove/fireplace complies with the age rules, according to the rules on scrapping of older wood burning stoves/fireplaces
Wood burning stove
